Soleil Pictures- Finally!

So, this is my famed Soleil. The reason I'm wearing it under a shirt is due to the fear of shoulders at my school (which I just graduated from!!!). Its living its other secret life as a sweater vest. ;)

Stats: Elann Sonata in Jade, size 6 US Addi Turbos (my first set!).

I really enjoyed this knit. It went so fast! I am definitely excited about making more clothes that fit me!

Soleil is done!!!

I just finished crocheting and weaving in ends for Soleil. I am so excited! Now I just need to wash and block it and it will be wearable. I'll post pics when its done! And the best part is that now I can make socks with the two leftover balls of Elann Sonata!

Tall Girls Unite

So, this is my new blog. I guess I'll dive right in!

I guess this would be the time to tell a little about myself. I am 18 and a senior in high school. I will be going to college next year to probably study chemistry. I am 5'11" and pretty slim (fast metabolism! yay!). I have a 34.5" inseam and most of my shirts show my stomach, which my high school vice principals/other staff find annoying/totally obscene (then again, they think showing shoulders is "distracting to the learning environment" yeah- it sucks). Okay, that's probably all anyone needs to know without encouraging stalkers.

Being tall, I have big feet. Size 11 or so to be exact, so when I knit socks they seem to take a little longer and little more yarn than socks for people who don't have skis for feet. I have had a lot of success in Knitty's Universal Sock Pattern because I can sort of put other people's patterns on my own custom fit socks. Ha! No size 7 socks for me!

So a focus of this blog is to try and alter patterns to make them fit my long torso and not be afraid to make changes to the pattern. I am currently knitting my first garment (!), which is Soleil from Knitty. I am loving it and incase anyone is wondering, I've added about 2.5 inches inbetween the decreases for waist shaping and the increases. I think its going to be long enough, which is totally awesome! I hate having my stomach show, not because its flabby or anything, but it just makes everything look so ill-fitting and I'm also not into dressing like Britney Spears circa 2001. Anyway, I will post pictures when I finish.

That's all for now I guess!
